Press conference ‘Close to heart: Problems of children suffered with HIV’

On December 9, 2008, press conference ‘Close to heart: Problems of children suffered with HIV’ was held on the initiative of the Russian Scientific Practical Centre on rendering of assistance to pregnant women and children suffered with HIV infection (RSPC).

A wide range of problems connected with social adaptation of children suffered with HIV was discussed on the press conference. Spokespersons noted an important role of the media in the integration of such children into the contemporary society.

Tigran Epoyan, Coordinator of UNICEF programs on HIV/AIDS in the Russian Federation, Bertrand Bainvel, UNICEF Representative in the Russian Federation, Prof. Evgeny Voronin, Chief Physician of the Russian Scientific Practical Centre on rendering of assistance to pregnant women and children suffered with HIV infection, and also Federal Supervision Agency for Customer Protection and Human Welfare representative rendered their reports as part of the press conference.

Abbott, a pharmaceutical and health care company, which has been assisting to the Russian Scientific Practical Centre for over a distance of 10 years, took part in the press conference.
