Press-conference “Unbreakable Embrace”
The press-conference “Unbreakable Embrace” was held at RIA Novosti on October 13, 2011.
The event was dedicated to annual World Osteoporosis Day which is organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) to raise awareness of osteoporosis. Upon an initiative of the Russian Osteoporosis Association and the Osteoporosis Patients Society “Osteorus”, 2011 became the first year when World Osteoporosis Day is held in Russia with the universal slogan – “Love your bones: embrace an active lifestyle, embrace calcium-rich foods, embrace vitamin D“.
Within the framework of the event leading specialists – O.M. Lesnyak, M.D., professor, president of the Russian Osteoporosis Association, O.B. Ershova, M.D., professor, vice-president of the Russian Osteoporosis Association, president of the Osteoporosis Patients Society “Osteorus”, N.V. Toroptsova, M.D., head of osteoporosis laboratory at the Rheumatology research institute of RAMS, I.I. Chukaeva. M.D., professor, head of outpatients therapy subdepartment at RSMU, - presented new statistics on incidence of osteoporosis, summed up osteoporosis prevention and treatment actions in Russia and discussed problem of medical care availability.
